How To Have The Perfect Garden

Gardening is relaxing hobby that people indulge in, and there are many benefits to owning one. It helps with pollution; it can feed you; it can even help with the population of animals. We can learn so much when we begin gardening, and the best part is that it helps our minds and bodies as well. The first question that most people have is, how do I make my garden? If you follow these simple steps making your garden will take you no time at all, states Dennis Sons from Tennessee Wholesale Nursery, a leading mail order nursery owner with more than 60 year experience in the trade.

Supplies you will need for this project:

The plants or vegetables of your choice

Potting mix

Plant food

Step one: Learn the dates of frost

Planting your plants too late or to early in a season can mean failure for your garden. You need to know when the frost date is in your area so that you can apply it to your garden. If you put the plants in too soon, you can kill them, and the same is true if you put them in too late. It also helps if you have an idea of the tasks you will need to do for what season.

When you begin to plant your garden, you need to pick the right location. You need to choose a spot that you will see every day. If you can see it each day, you will be more likely to stick with it. Knowing what will grow the best in what area is going to help you be more successful. The best advice here is to talk to someone at your garden center or a nursery because they will tell you the best spot to plant your items and they will be able to give you helpful tips as well.

Step three: Knowing your soil

Talking to someone at your local nursery is going to help here as well. What you are needing is an accurate reading on your soil's pH level and the nutrient level as well. If you send a sample to the nursery, or even using a testing kit from Lowes or a gardening store, they will be able to tell you how much alkaline or acidic your soil is. Depending on the result, you will be able to see how well your plant is going to be able to absorb the nutrients it needs. The texture of the soil should also be ready to crumble in your fingers and be able to be shoveled easily. A good tip here is to invest in soil that is rich in nutrients and well-drained as well. You going to need about 3 inches of the earth you buy into the top 7 inches of the soil you already have at home.

Most of the plants that are edible, like fruits and vegetables, require at least five hours or more of the sun to be able to thrive. If you don't have accurate sunlight for your plants, they won't survive very long.

Step five: Knowing how to water your garden

One of the essential tips on this list is to make sure your garden is near a good water source. The helpful idea is that you use a garden hose and have it be able to run to your site what this means your not carrying water multiple times a day. If you can stick a finger in the soil of where your plants are embedded, and it comes up dry, you will need to water. You will need to be consistent, and you will need to make sure that you're not watering too much or too little. Both can be damaging. You should also remember that new plants need more water because of their root systems. Plants absorb water best earlier in the morning. If you water them at night or in the evening, your plants are more susceptible to diseases, rot, or fungus.

We get hungry as people, right? Plants get hungry too. If you have fantastic soil, this is where it starts, but you should also have some proper nutrition for your plants as well. After planting, wait four weeks and begin using excellent plant food to start feeding your garden so that it can grow much better for you.

Step seven: Understand your space

If you aren't aware of how much space you need, this is something that needs to be understood quickly. Most plants need their own space, and sometimes it can be up to twenty inches. If the area is an issue, you should consider getting containers instead. Another tip is that if you have little plants, you should be putting them toward the front and taller plants in the back. If you choose to get pots and containers, they are suitable for berries and other fruits, but they are also ideal for flowers and vegetables as well.

You must select the plants that match the conditions that you have, what this means that you should be putting plants that like the sun, in a spot that is receiving a lot of sunshine. You should also give plants that need a room like pumpkins, for example, plenty of room and space for the vines. Vegetables don't take a lot of time to grow, so this can be a great beginner project, so that you are not wasting a lot of time, and you can see results quickly. Once you've chosen the plants, go ahead and begin planting them in your soil.

Step nine: Add in your mulch

Apply your mulch at least three inches deep around each and make sure to put it around each plant. The mulch keeps weeds away and reduces the loss of moisture.

Step ten: You are finished

Now that you have all the information you need to make a beautiful garden, you are ready to see impressive results. Just remember to take your time and to be patient, and you will have an assortment of plants and vegetables in no time!
